Tales of Mystery and Imagination (1923)
Illustrated by Harry Clarke
Tales of Mystery and Imagination is arguably the first title showing examples of Harry Clarke's chillingly darker illustrations. The words of a contemporaneous critique from The Studio continue to described Clarke's contribution accurately:
"Never before have these marvellous tales been visually interpreted with such flesh-creeping, brain-tainting illusions of horror, terror and the unspeakable".

|
To the left, we show a rare copy of the first edition of Tales of Mystery and Imagination to include both monotone and colour illustration by Harry Clarke - published by George G Harrap and Company in 1923.

An example of one of our Fine Art Posters in a superb 20x30" format |
When presented on Greeting Cards, these images are prepared as tipped-on plates - in hommage to the hand-crafted approach typical of prestige illustrated publications produced in the early decades of the 20th Century. Each card is hand-finished and the images are presented on Ivory card stock (in the case of colour images) or White card stock (in the case of monotone images) with an accompanying envelope. The rear of each card carries information about Harry Clarke, this wonderful suite and the profiled illustration - we have left the interior of the cards blank so that you may write your own personal message.
Should you wish to order a reproduction print of one or more of these images, we have provided some options below. Each of our Fine Art Posters is prepared with archival quality papers and inks - and also accompanied by information about Harry Clarke, this suite and the profiled illustration.
