Illustrated by Sulamith Wülfing

 

 

Der Mond ist ausgegangen was among the first self-published volumes

produced by Wülfing (published by the firm co-owned with her husband,

Sulamith Wülfing Verlag). Like many of the collections published by

Sulamith Wülfing Verlag, very small numbers were published for the

1st Edition in 1932, as was also the case for subsequent small printing runs

in the years that followed.

On the left, we show a rare copy of Der Mond ist ausgegangen including

the illustrations of Sulamith Wülfing published by Sulamith Wülfing - Verlag (Wuppertal-Elberfeld) in 1932.

 

This example retains the original decoratively stamped cardboard cover.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

Wülfing's delicate and precise style can be seen throughout the suite of colour and monotone illustrations prepared to

accompany the traditional songs and poetry presented in Der Mond ist ausgegangen. The collection is drawn from fairytales,

traditional children's songs and the work of poets including Paul Gerhardt and Joseph Mohr.

When presented on Greeting Cards, these images are prepared as tipped-on

plates - in hommage to the hand-crafted approach typical of prestige illustrated

publications produced in the early decades of the 20th Century. Each card is

hand-finished and and the images are presented on Ivory card stock (in the case

of colour illustrations) or White card stock (in the case of monotone illustrations)

with an accompanying envelope. The rear of each card carries information

about Sulamith Wülfing, this wonderful suite and the profiled illustration - we

have left the interior of the cards blank so that you may write your own

personal message.

images, we have provided some options below. Each of our Fine Art Posters

is prepared with archival quality papers and inks - and also accompanied by

information about Sulamith Wülfing, this suite and the profiled illustration.
