was produced in a wonderful large format that complements Ségur's images superbly.

In this title, Ségur prepared a suite of colour, monotone and marginal duotone illustrations

To the left, we show a rare copy of the 1951 edition of Il était une fois ... vieux contes français

with illustrations by Adrienne Ségur - published by Ernest Flammarion (Paris).

This copy shows the original colour illustrated gloss board cover.

Drawing inspiration from familiar tales, Ségur prepared a suite of illustrations that built on the dramatic stylistic shift first

seen in Alice au pays des merveilles. In this case, she has utilised a rich and diverse colour palate, in addition to imbuing

her illustrations with a grand level of detail and sumptuous nature that is entirely consistent with the romantic recreation

of tales from the past.

Adrienne Ségur, this wonderful suite and the profiled illustration - we have left the interior of the cards blank so that you

may write your own personal message.
