Presenting a
European idealised vision of life within an Arabic context - typical of the
Orientalist tradition - this canvass shows a relaxed Harem with various figures
enjoying music in the foreground with the cityscape of Cairo in the mid-ground
and two pyramids in the extreme right.

This
painting is signed "Earl C Neiman". Neiman was an artist
responsible for a number of feature stained glass displays throughout the United
States. This large canvass shows a fantasy scene inside the inner chambers of a
temple or palace with a troop of nude female dancers and musicians performing
for Pharoah's delight.
