Kipling's classic tale, The Jungle Book was first published in 1894 with marginal monotone illustrations by the
author himself. The 1908 versions by MacMillan and Co. Limited (London), however, was the 1st Edition to
carry colour illustrations prepared by Maurice and Edward Detmold.
The interpretation provided by the Detmold twins to The Jungle Book is superb.
1st Edition copies of The Jungle Book - as illustrated by the Maurice and Edward Detmold - are highly regarded
by collectors and enthusiasts alike.

We have prepared sets of 16 Greeting Cards displaying each of the Detmolds' images for The Jungle Book and on the left, we show an example of how these Greeting Cards appear. When presented on Greeting Cards, these images are prepared as tipped-on plates - in hommage to the hand-crafted
approach typical of prestige illustrated publications produced in the early decades of the 20th Century.
Hand-finishing is used to replicate the visual appearance of a tipped-on plate and the images are presented on
Ivory card stock with an accompanying envelope. We have left the cards blank so that you may write your own
personal message.
