Time and the Gods was the second book from Lord Dunsany.
His work has been identified as a major influence on subsequent fantasy writers, including Tolkein and Lovecraft.
Time and the Gods is a collection of short fantasy stories, including: "Time and the Gods"; "The Coming of the Sea";
"A Legend of the Dawn"; "The Vengeance of Man"; "When the Gods Slept"; "The King That Was Not"; "The Cave of Kai";
"The Sorrow of Search"; "The Men of Yarnith"; "For the Honour of the Gods"; "Night and Morning"; "Usury"; "Mlideen";
"The Secret of the Gods"; "The South Wind"; "In the Land of Time"; "The Relenting of Sarnidac"; "The Jest of the Gods";
"The Dreams of the Prophet"; and "The Journey of the King".
Dunsany introduces the tales thus:
These tales are of the things that befell gods and men
in Yarnith,
Averon, and Zarkandhu, and in the other countries of my dreams.
Sime's illustrations for Time and the Gods are an example of his early collaborative with Dunsany. The suite shows
significant movement in styles and influences, whilst remaining complementary to the fantasy text from Dunsany.

When presented on Greeting Cards, these images are prepared as tipped-on plates - in hommage to the hand-crafted
approach typical of prestige illustrated publications produced in the early decades of the 20th Century.
Hand-finishing is used to replicate the visual appearance of a tipped-on plate and the images are presented on
White card stock with an accompanying envelope. We have left the cards blank so that you may write your own
personal message.
