Folk Tales of Flanders (1918)
Illustrated by Jean de Bosschère
On the left, we show Folk Tales of Flanders (1918) - as illustrated by de Bosschère and co-published by William Heinemann (London) and Dodd, Mead & Company (New York). This example retains the original blind- and gold-stamped dark green cloth cover.
It is noteworthy that the Heinemann variant was entitled Beast and Men - Folk Tales Collection in Flanders, whilst the Dodd, Mead & Company version carried the title Falk Tales of Flanders. Printing for both variants was undertaken at The Complete Press (London).
To the right, we show the illustrated Title Page prepared by de Bosschère. |
Folk Tales of Flanders (1918) carries a collection of traditional Belgian stories, including: "Ups and Downs"; "The Three
