Our selected images for this portion of the Range is drawn from a number of traditions.

We begin with examples from Wagnerian works such as The Rhinegold & The Valkyrie and Siegfried & The Twilight

of the Gods illustrated by Arthur Rackham showing inspired images of feminine heroic images by way of Brünnhilde,
the legendary Valkyries and Siegfried. Other special Rackham contributions are shown from The Romance of King

Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table and Hawthorne's Wonder Book.

 

Following the selection from Rackham, we then show an extensive array of stunning images drawn from the

contributions of Kay Nielsen to East of the Sun and West of the Moon, Hansel and Gretel: And Other Stories from

the Brothers Grimm and Red Magic. Those images include colour and monotone illustrations. Further special images

are shown from Thomas Mackenzie, Frank C Papé, Edward Burne-Jones, Evelyn Paul, Edmund Dulac.
