Bland Tomtar Och Troll (1926)
Illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren
On the left, we show a rare copy of the 1926 Edition of Bland Tomtar Och Troll, as illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren and produced by Åhlén & Åkerlunds Förlag (Stockholm).
This example retains the original paper cover with applied paste-down.
|
Published in 1926 by Åhlén & Åkerlunds Förlag (Stockholm), this edition shows the eighth suite of illustrations for the
annual Bland Tomtar Och Troll that was contributed by Tenggren exclusively.
Throughout the 1926 Edition of Bland Tomtar Och Troll, Tenggren illustrates a number of tales by various authors
including: "Det egendomliga trollet och solstrålen" (Hjalmar Bergman); "De fem bröderna" (Beth Birkenhain); "De spelande
systrarna" (Elisabeth Brehmer); "Trollringen" (Auda Alm); and "Plorr, det lilla sjötrollet" (Britta Kilander).
These early illustrations from Tenggren show his developing style in the years following his emigration to the United States.

When presented on Greeting Cards, these images are prepared as tipped-on plates - in hommage to the hand-crafted
approach typical of prestige illustrated publications produced in the early decades of the 20th Century.
Hand-finishing is used to replicate the visual appearance of a tipped-on plate and the images are presented on Ivory card
stock with an accompanying envelope. We have left the cards blank so that you may write your own personal message.
Should you wish to order a Reproduction Print of one or more of these images, we have provided some options below.
Of course, should you wish to discuss some customised options, we welcome your contact on any matter through
ThePeople@SpiritoftheAges.com.
In the meantime, enjoy perusing these wonderful images from Gustaf Tenggren.
