''Circe and Ulysses''
This wonderful example of the matured art of Dulac is typical of the high Art Nouveau aesthete that characterized those
pieces prepared in the latter part of his career.
Depicting two characters from the myths and legends of Ancient Greece, Dulac has masterfully interpreted the classic tales
in a manner that is similar to the technique he applied for those illustrations published in Gods and Mortals in Love (1935) -
and one may well imagine that the illustration would have been well suited to have accompanied the tale of Circe and
Ulysses that otherwise remained without an illustration for that publication.
